President Rodrigo Duterte - SONA 2017
President Rodrigo Duterte - SONA 2017

Grab at Uber - BuhayOFW
TNCs / TNVS - LTFRB ISSUE

Departure for Thailand and Malaysia ni President Duterte
Source: RTVM
“I leave today for Bangkok to pay respects to King Bhumibol Adulyadej, a true friend of the Philippines. He will be remembered for his dedicated efforts to foster goodwill and friendship between our nations and peoples… He truly deserves a special place in history,” he said.
After the President’s visit to Thailand, he will proceed to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as part of his introductory visits to neighboring countries within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
“The focus of my visit would be to strengthen the Philippines’ partnership with Malaysia for security and stability,” President Duterte said.
According to the President, foremost in the security and stability agenda is the maritime security and the fight against piracy at sea. He added, “As maritime nations, we both have a stake in ensuring that our waterways are secure and that criminal and terrorist elements do not use our seas to undertake illegal activities.”
The President also brought up his administration’s war against illegal drugs, saying, “This menace knows no boundaries and cooperation between our nations is vital in order to address this problem.”
He spoke as well about Malaysia’s role in pursuing just and lasting peace in Mindanao. “In my talk with the Prime Minister, I shall seek Malaysia’s continued support for the peace process in Southern Philippines,” he said. He added that the Bangsamoro transition document would be discussed in a meeting with Malaysia’s officials.
President Duterte also talked about economic cooperation between the two countries. He said that he will be asking for “support for the Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) to spur Mindanao growth,” and that he will also identify other opportunities for broader collaboration with Malaysia.
Likewise, the President will be visiting the Filipino community in Malaysia. He said, “Their interests are at the core of our visit to Kuala Lumpur.”
He also spoke about seeking Malaysia’s support as the Philippines chairs the ASEAN in 2017.
He finished his speech by saying, “My guiding principle in all engagements would be the protection of the national interests. We will be unflagging in our effort to pursue our independent foreign policy consistent with the provision of our Constitution.”

48th Anniversary of the 250th Presidential Airlift Wing (PAW)
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte graced the 48th anniversary of the 250th Presidential Airlift Wing (PAW) at the Villamor Air Base (VAB) in Pasay City, where he led the presentation of awards to the outstanding men, women, and units under PAW.
Together with National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff General Ricardo Visaya, plaques of appreciation were likewise given to PAW’s partners from the private and government sectors such as the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), Manila Control Tower, Airport Police Department, Philippine Airlines and Lufthansa Technik Philippines.
In his speech, President Duterte thanked the PAW command for the mobility provided to him in his 40 years of service in the government. As a gesture of support, he assured them a budget allocation amounting to about half a billion pesos for the repair and refurbishment of PAW’s facilities, and for the improvement of their services.
The President briefly discussed his meeting with Indonesian President Joko Widodo on the problem of illegal drugs, and the just concluded 28th and 29th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summits held in Vientiane, Lao People’s Democratic Republic earlier this month.
President Duterte said, “Sabi ko lang, we will respect the judgment of your court. Period.”
He then reiterated that he would put at stake his honor, even his life and the Presidency, just to fulfill what he promised to the Filipino people.
“I promise the people that I will give you a clean government and it will be clean as it could ever be. I promise you that I’ll get rid of the drug problem because if I don’t, it will compromise the next generation of Filipinos given the numbers who are now addicted,” President Duterte said as he ended his speech.
